The TrueTrac Router Gantry System (RGS) is an easy and accurate way to simultaneously surface and flatten live edge slabs, epoxy tables or counter tops, bar surfaces, table glue-ups, and much more!
With an industry-unique Threaded Cross Feed this system allows you complete and utter control over your handheld router, allowing you to bring the router to the work rather than the work to the router. Simply use the provided thumb screws to securely fasten the RGS Adapter Plate to the custom nuts on the threaded rod installed in the gantry rail. By turning the provided hand-crank, you may now accurately, safely, and easily index your router across the 'transverse' or 'bridge' of the gantry system.
This allows for consistent edge jointing capabilities with straight or fluted router bits, being able to produce equally spaced fluted columns or door frames using a ball-nose bit, rabbit cuts on large projects, and accurate dado grooves using standard sized bits.
Our 100% custom American-made and purpose designed heavy-duty extrusions are expandable to virtually any width or length desired and will easily support your 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 HP router without bending, bowing, warping, or twisting during normal use.
All sliding components are 100% CNC machined from Acetal Copolymer, also referred to as Delrin, which is an engineered plastic specifically designed for sliding friction applications and holds machining tolerances wonderfully.

Have a lot of slabs to flatten and decided I needed a good way. Did a bunch of research and decided on the Truetrack system. Built the frame and mounted the rails and went to work. I was really surprised at how easy it was with beautiful results.
The only issue I'm having is when I plane long boards the sled seems to bind up the more I push it. The sled is 100% square but after 1-2 feet it gets very hard to move.

The force required for movement should be pretty uniform the entire span of motion, so there's two things that may be causing the bridge to stick during motion. The first is to flip the bridge over and check the long runners. There are two small shoulders 'above' the bevels that help prevent racking. I've had a few that have closed up after machining and those shoulders start to act like a brake if it hits an area of the extrusion that's a couple thou larger than the rest. Usually you'll see rub marks on those small shoulders at the extreme ends of the long runners if this is the case.
Secondly, if the runners look pristine with no rub marks, leave one long axis securely bolted in place. Loosen one end of the opposite long axis rail by a 1/2 turn or something small like that to allow a hint of movement at one end of that long axis. Move the bridge and see if the movement is easier, as sometimes a miniscule warp in the support system can pull the rails just enough to cause excessive drag.
Let me know if either of those is the case. If it's the runners, you can hit the shoulders with some sand paper to knock them back and use that as a verification. Doesn't impact functionality at all, simply adding a few thou clearance to counter material movement.

I purchased the router gantry system a few weeks ago and used it on my first project to flatten a quarter sawn white oak dining table top.
Just wanted to let you know everything worked great and I could not have flattened the top nearly as easily or got it as flat without the gantry system. A few pictures are below.
