True Trac Simple Square
Please use the drop down menu above to select the "Right-Blade" or "Left-Blade" variant - Looking from the rear of the track saw, right-bladed saws have the blade to the right, and left-bladed saws have the blade to the left.
This square is not designed to work with competitive systems - Festool, Makita, DeWalt, Wen, Kreg, etc, as all of those tracks lack the dovetail connector grooves used for alignment.
A simple bolt-on rail attachment for the TrueTrac Saw guide rail system, utilize this 16 inch length Simple Square for quick and efficient 90 degree crosscuts on plywood or dimensional lumber!
The Simple Square attaches to the track via two 12 inch length self-aligning connectors. The longer connectors average out any variations in the track for consistent performance and the body of the square attaches to the connectors with four shoulder bolts via tight tolerance reamed holes.
For the first installation, follow the set up instructions to reference the square to the track of your choice. After the first reference you will be able to remove the square from the track and reinstall without needing to remove the shoulder bolts from the square.
Please expect approximately 1/32 - 3/64 inch variation at the end of a 4ft cut. Shorter cuts will experience less drift.TrueTrac Simple Square Instruction PDF
I purchase this squaring device last year. It was extremely easy to set up and can be quickly used. I use it on a longer track now instead of the shorter one that came with it. It stays true once it is set up due to the dovetail connectors. A excellent product for my setup. I use both a M18 Fuel 6.5" saw and a corded PORTER-CABLE 423MAG 15 Amp 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw, LEFT HANDED with dust collection for my system.
True Trac fails to mention that this "simple square" is proprietary. It will only work with their track. It will not work with tracks made by Makita, Festool, Dewalt, Wen, etc. That vital piece of information is not readily available and therefore, after finally receiving it, I realize that it will not work with my track saw track. Perhaps if they would sell smaller connectors, we could actually use this with an actual track saw. In actuality, "TrueTrac" is not a plunge-cut type of track saw system. By design, they want you to buy a bunch of only their stuff just so you can use your circular saw as a track saw. This was my first and most likely my last dealing with this company. Their website sucks - no search bar at the top and not all of their products are readily seen. This particular piece is difficult to locate on the website I thought. Why was it not listed under "all products". Finally, hidden down at the bottom there is a search button, but again, it seems hidden. That aside, this company should clearly state that this "simple square" will only work with their track. I feel that they intentionally leave that information out. It's just shoddy all around. At least make some adapter connector piece so we can use our existing tracks.
Your response seems hostile and highly frustrated - For that I do apologize, as most of us use woodworking as a point of interest and retreat from the world.
We have an extremely open and generous 100% money back guarantee for situations like this, or honestly anything that comes up that can’t be resolved, so effectively you’ll be out zero dollars. A prepaid return label is always available for any order regardless of timeframe - It isn’t limited by 30, 60, or 90 day return windows.
If I or anyone here had been made aware, with either an email inquiry or phone call, it would have been a discussion of a few moments or lines to have answered directly if our square, clamps, or saw adapter work with competitive systems.
I will publish your review, along with my written response here, so we continue being transparent.
Please keep an eye out for the return label and once we receive the items back I’ll issue the refund for the full product value.
Earlier purchased the 10’ true track system with locking clamps. I now needed a way to square cut the ends of my sheet goods once ripped to length. I have found numerous other applications to use these systems on such as a guide for routing operations, a better square vs framing square because of the extended lengths of the tracks. Hands down, one of the best investments I’ve made for my shop! Can’t beat the quality of the products or the price!
I have ordered three other True Trac products and have been using them with satisfaction. I have ordered a Simple Square after realizing what everyone else knows...boards off the shelf of the lumber store are rarely cut square. I had to learn the hard way not to make that assumption. The square kit came today (I really do appreciate the value of the kit) and I set it up. It took about 4 or 5 tries to get it really square. I had to loosen all four connector screws as well as the shoulder bolts, but once I did that, it squared right up. I will use it on the next project, but I did check it against a board I squared up the old fashioned way, and it was dead-on. My only suggestion is to make one of the connectors a little longer than the other one. That will make it easier to slip the assembled square into a track section. One connector would go in first. Getting two lined up just right at the same time can be exacting.
