- 6063 custom extruded aluminum, satin finish hard anodize finish
- Solid Acetal Resin, CNC machined sliding components and end caps
- 6061-T6 1/4-inch thick aluminum base plate, predrilled for 20 routers
The following items make the 22-inch x 48-inch Manual Feed Slab Mill:
- Two (2) 27-1/2 inch length RGS guide rails
- Two (2) 55 inch length RGS guide rails
- Eight (8) Bearing End Caps, installed on rails with 10-24 Type F Machine Screws
- Two (2) Short Linear Slides (Short Runners) with bubble levels installed
- Two (2) Long Linear Slides (Long Runners)
- Two (2) Drop Downs
- One (1) Router Base Plate, pre-drilled for listed routers (see compatibility below)
- Fourteen (14) 10-24 threaded, 1/4 inch diameter, 1/4 inch length Shoulder Bolts
- Six (6) 8-32 x 1/2 L flat head Phillips drive machine screws
- One (1) 1/8 inch L-shaped hex wrench
- Two (2) Hand Grip Knobs
If the Threaded Cross Feed version is selected, one of the 27-1/2 inch extrusions above will have the 27-1/2 inch Threaded Rod Kit installed. Additionally, two (2) knurled brass thumb screws will be included with the standard hardware packet as well as one (1) hand crank to attach to the threaded rod.
The Threaded Cross Feed units can be moved manually without the rod or hand crank by simply removing the two thumb screws and moving the Router Base Assembly by hand.
works as intended, quality equipment
The RGS is working as I expected, albeit a bit of a learning curve for me. I have some modifications I would like to make to my base, however that is more me than anything else since I needed to use it to understand what I wanted. The question I have is there something I can or should be using to lubricate the rails in order for the router portion to slide smoothly and evenly ?
My wife makes charcuterie boards with old wood and wood / epoxy. She has a planer, but it doesn't always fit the bill for flattening - some of her pieces are pretty twisted initially. Building jigs and anchoring pieces to flatted with a router was time and material consuming. This product is her new go-to. The set it up on a table, built a couple of low-profile frames inside it to wedge in a couple fairly standard sizes, then went to work. The speed of changing out work pieces is down to seconds and the gantry slides are smooth. She loves it and it's cut down on time and material usage exponentially! Great product - highly recommended!
Very happy with it, worth the investment IMO. Well made, does what it's intended to do. Easy assembly and good instructions.
I bought this to help with flattening end grain cutting boards. I was using my drum sander prior to this and found that it was taking so much time to do it, also after the drum sander, I had to spend even more time with the Orbital sander to get it ready for finish. With this and a decent slab flattening bit I've cut my flattening time down a whole lot, and I can go pretty to 80 grit immediately. great time saver. I would recommend this definitely.
